3 Things to Consider when Choosing Your Wedding Venue
February 3, 2017 by Meagan Lucy
We’ve been photographing weddings for over 15 years and have worked at almost every wedding venue in Sacramento…and we’ve seen our fair share of couples surprised by what is and isn’t included in their venue’s service. This list could be much longer, but we’ve narrowed it down to three things you should ask while searching for the perfect wedding venue.
What coordination and décor set up is included in your wedding venue’s service?
Be sure to ask if someone will be there to help coordinate sending everyone down the aisle or do you need to plan for that on your own. What about décor? Who is responsible for this?
I suggest hiring a planner to execute your vision…as opposed to relying on your mom! (Lol) If that is not within your budget and you need loved ones to help you look further out than your immediate family members and wedding party. They will need time to get ready and be available for photos with you!
Can you bring in outside vendors or are they a one-stop shop?
A lot of venues have preferred vendors and/or offer many services in house. Find out their outside vendors policies and which ones you need. Some venues will only allow you to work with companies on their list. Find out who and why they have selected the vendors on their list. Rely on their expertise when it comes to their property! Just like our team, they’ve learned a lot in their experience and I’m sure they’d be happy to help.
What rentals are included?
Do they provide tables and chairs on site or do you need to work with a rental company? Same goes for linens, china, and glassware. These little things are easy to overlook and can be a source of stress unless sorted out ahead of time. If there are things you’ll need which aren’t included at your venue, we can get you in touch with rental companies we’ve worked with and recommend.
We hope you’ve found this short list helpful in some way. There’s much more we help our clients with and this is one of the most rewarding parts of our work (and the look on couple’s faces when they see their beautiful photos!)
